Saffier has barely finished the completely new Se33 the next exciting innovation has already been launched. Compact, trailerable with a large estate car thanks to its total weight of 1.8 tonnes, elegant and with space for a maximum of four people to stay overnight. However, this will hardly be the boat's main purpose. Like its big sister, the SC 10m, the "Eight" is also a kind of daysailer plus, or as the shipyard says, a gentleman's sailer.
Large cockpit, easy to handle thanks to the self-tacking jib, with the expected good and pleasant sailing characteristics and also with a small cabin. Here, passengers can freshen up or go to the toilet, a coffee can be made or - if desired - the limoncello can be chilled. The main focus, however, is on the sailing experience: "The freeboard is deliberately not so high. That way, you are closer to the water and have a more intense experience. This is pure sailing," says Dennis Hennevanger, one of the shipyard bosses, about his new boat.
The Saffier is equipped with a diesel engine which, rather untypically, does its work in the stern. This means that the bridge deck is not too bulky. It remains to be seen whether the extra weight aft will have an effect on the sailing characteristics. In any case, the Sc 8m is an exciting new boat for around 70,000 euros. Whether for beginners, sailors who deliberately want to get closer to the water again or as a plaything in their home waters while the big yacht is waiting in the south.
